I'm returning, again

Yes, I have been a bad blogger this year and seem to only update on a quarterly basis. I will try to do better this year, but no promises. I actually was putting together the blogs a few weeks ago and our home computer crashed, which delayed me by a few weeks. Not excuses, but just an explanation. Sometimes it is just difficult to find the time between work and family time.

The Circus

We took Caden to the Circus a few nights ago. He really only wanted to see the Elephants, but liked a few of the other acts. Although he cried and cried when we left because he wanted to see more of the elephants.

On the circus motorcycle!

Birthday Party at the Ranch

Caden loves parties. He wants his birthday party now and still doesn't quite understand that his birthday is still a few months away. A few weeks ago we went to a ranch here in town to celebrate our friend, Ethan's 4th birthday.

The horses were a big hit, so I think I know where Caden would like his birthday party this year.

New Years

We again packed up (we were on the road a lot!) and headed to Orlando for a night to see cousin, Drew, play in a baseball tournament at ESPN's Wide World of Sports. Wow, what a complex!

Then we packed up again and headed down to Port St. Lucie for New Years. Kaley and Caden did sparklers in the back yard...a little nerve racking for a three year old with fire.

At one point in the trip, he told me that Drew Drew was his best friend and wanted to stay in his room (of course, this upset someone named Kaley)...but it was cute none the less.

Caden also loves chapstick (so he got a few tubes in his stocking), but doesn't understand the difference between lipstick and chapstick. He got into Kaley's play makeup and found frosted pink lipstick...

I thought it was hilarious...daddy not so much :).

Paul and Bo

I asked Caden one day what his dinosaurs names were. He told me "ummm, I'm thinking"...and then came out with Paul and Bo. We honestly have no idea where those names came from...

BIG NEWS!

Caden is going to be a big brother! Our little girl is due May 17th! Caden is excited and says he wants her now, but I told him she had to grow a little bigger before she could come out. He also is telling people that he has a baby in his belly, too. The doctor told us it was a girl and Scott asked him if he was a 100% and he told us he was as close to 100% as he could be, so I guess this part of the Harrells can produce a girl!

Christmas

As I said in my SeaWorld post, Caden doesn't quite understand the whole waiting in line concept. So going to see Santa was quite an experience, but we finally made it.

He was not shy at all. In fact, he kept talking to Santa...He said "I want a tall bike, drums so I can bang on them, cars, trucks, baseball stuff so I can play baseball with my daddy, etc".

From Collages

We had a relatively calm Christmas. The hard part this year was actually getting the presents wrapped. I think I forgot to mention that ever since we got out of Shands, Caden refuses to sleep in his bed no matter how many times we put him back in it. He said that there are monsters in there and it's too dark and spooky. Granted, Mommy slept in the bed with him every night and daddy slept on the pull out chair. So, the lack of going to bed is killing us and it was harder to get Christmas ready. So, there were no presents under the tree until the night of the 23rd. By some Christmas miracle, he went to bed early and in his own bed on Christmas Eve. I think all of the Santa threats may have worked that night.

Mi-mi came to stay with us on Christmas Eve and we all went to church. Caden was great during the service! We told him when he got home that he got to open his presents, so he was beyond excited. He was definitely into the whole Christmas thing this year more.

Getting ready to open his Christmas presents!

With all of his loot...I swear you never realize how much you buy until you start wrapping it all (but there are presents from other family members in there).

Santa came! Caden literally was so tired and didn't want to get out bed until daddy mentioned the words "more presents" and then he perked right up!

He would open things and tell his dad "no touch it" so he could open another one...he must get that from school or I guess it's just the age.

A few hours later (literally), we were packed up and headed to Panama City.

Pops made a Santa's workshop in their garage for all the boys.

And, then, more presents...he must think that there are 3 Christmases.

From 2011_12_25

All in all, Caden had a great Christmas and we now we need to give away a lot of his old toys!

SEAWORLD with lots of pictures!

As I stated before, Caden LOVES animals, so we thought a perfect Christmas present for him would be to go to SeaWorld. Needless to say, it was big hit.

He was mesmerized...

Then, we headed over to the kiddie rides. Caden was so brave and rode the holiday train by himself!

From 2011_12_17

We banged on the steel drums (on a side note, he kept telling us before this that he wanted Santa to bring him drums so he could bang on them...no idea where that came from)

Then, he decided he loved it.

And rode it again and again and again...

No hands!

The Polar Express! Yes, it was pretty real and even let off steam unexpectedly, which scared Caden half to death at first.

From 2011_12_17

One of Caden's favorites was the polar bear. Sadly, this was the only picture we could get of him.

From 2011_12_17

Of course, after you see the polar bear, they drop you into the polar bear gift shop, where Caden had to have a big stuffed polar bear that he carried around the whole time and now sleeps with every night.

As soon as we arrived at the park (at 9am), we made reservations to eat at the Sharks Underwater Grill. It was worth every penny...look at how close we were.

From 2011_12_17

The beautiful sea of trees lit up at night. 9am was important to say that we got there, because we didn't leave until around 10pm. It was a long day Caden actually fell asleep on me at 7:30 waiting for the Shamu night show to start.

From 2011_12_17

Since our tickets were good for two days, we decided to go back for a half a day on Sunday to ride more rides and see some of his favorite shows again...Daddy and Caden again on the rides!

Fiddler crab ride again...

Choo, choo.

And a final trip to the polar bear.

From 2011_12_18

Caden loved it and it was a great age to take him. The only issue was that he didn't quite understand the whole standing in line and waiting aspect, but as long as we had snacks, we were okay. It was a great Harrell family trip! Next up, maybe Busch Gardens or Disney World, but not for a while. We were worn out!
