Happy Halloween

Caden and I took a trip to the pumpkin patch and he even got to preview his halloween costume while we were there (he was so excited as you can tell). We managed to catch one smile...

Mommy and Caden...

He's a fierce dragon!
I love love love both of these pictures...he looks like he is trying to figure out who put him in this costume...

No, he's not standing up by himself yet - my friend Tara is behind the scenes supporting him...

And some more tub pictures, since it is one of his favorite places! He decided to start sticking his tongue out lately...
And, I just love it when he sucks on his bottom lip, he just looks so cute doing it...

And, we have this bath toy that filters water out like a watering can or shower, and he is just mesmorized by it and cannot figure out why he can't grab the streams of water???
And just an update on the weekend...mommy had a great time at the game and he was apparently a perfect little angel for his sitters...they were even watching the game with him and trying to teach him the tomahawk chop (shhhhh....don't tell daddy...)

Sometimes pictures don't speak and they need some words

Well, I was laughing so hard, because Caden has finally figured out how to roll completely over from his back to his stomach and to his back again and then again to his stomach, and so on... I was cooking dinner and he was under his gym, and I looked over at him and this is how he was (no he was not sleeping, he just blinked at the flash...)

He had rolled over and got stuck in between the two "poles" and was trying with all of his might to roll onto to his stomach again...

And this one is for Nana, Caden and I went on a walk around the block and it was a little chilly, so he wore his pumpkin hat that his Nana bought for him...

Other than that, we are definitely teething and I will be sooo thankful when those teeth finally come in! Caden is chewing on everything including thankfully pacifiers and has some of the not so fun other symptoms of teething...

He is loving the dogs and even reached out and grabbed Riley's (our pomeranian) fur the other night (poor Riley). Riley yelped and Caden laughed...When he starts to understand, we will have to teach him to be nice to the dogs.

Mommy gets to finally go to a football game this weekend, so we have some babysitters coming to watch Caden (my friend DeeDee and her kids), so hopefully he behaves!

That's all for now and I'll post another update soon on the life and times of Caden...

Lots of stuff going on since the last post

Uncle Todd, Aunt Carly, and cousins Brody and Wade stopped by last weekend for a visit...and Caden just was looking at them like they were crazy when they were crying...he doesn't remember when he had that "newborn cry" too.

Then this past weekend, we went on our first official family vacation to one of our favorite spots - Grayton Beach. This was Caden's first time at a beach! We stayed in this great little condo that was just big enough for the three of us. We took Caden down to the beach...here he is with his feet in the sand...he wasn't sure what to make of it...
Then we took a ride on daddy's shoulders down to the water...and the water really scared him when it rushed up and touched his feet...
We had some cooler weather so we didn't spend a lot of time at the beach, but that did mean that we got to break out some of his sweaters, jackets, and jeans for the first time...and yes, he is coordinated with the furniture in the condo...and no, he's not eating the chips, but just playing with the bag.
Also, on Saturday night, Grammie and Pops came to pick Caden up and took him home with them so mommy and daddy could have an adult night out...this was the first time he has spent the night with Grammie and Pops alone...and this was only the second time he has been away from mommy at night...but we survived :). Here he is mesmorized by Grammie's saltwater fish tank...she said that he stared at it for about half an hour...
And here he is with his shades on before we took a walk down their dock...
Now, here are just some cute and funny pictures...First, with his crazy hair blowing in the wind - he loves the windows down in the car.
Here he is sitting on the couch like a big boy...we are still working on the sitting up thing, but hopefully we'll get there in a few weeks.

And some things he is doing lately...sucking on his bottom lip...

Sucking his thumb while he is sleeping...
Still eating his feet...
And he has picked up interest again in his pacifier (we are definitely teething)...he has one pacifier that he likes to put in his mouth, bite down on it, and then pull it out because it makes a popping noise...he thinks that it is hilarious...

Better and Better Everyday

Motherhood gets better and better everyday...

I always seem to be the one taking the pictures so I decided to take some of me and my favorite boy.

I just love a boy in overalls, so I just had to take a back view picture of him in his cute little overalls.

So funny, he was trying to hold his bottle a few weeks ago and now he has started to put both of his hands over the bottle clasped on his forehead...it's hard to describe, but it's so cute and funny that I had to take a picture of it.

Daddy was in Chicago and when he came back, he couldn't get enough of his Caden that day...the next morning, they were all snuggled up in bed together while I was getting ready.

Caden is trying his hardest to sit up by himself and he is almost there. He grabs onto our fingers and pulls himself up to sit and then to stand. He is very wobbly standing but still so strong! He can sit up in his boppy as you can see, but sometimes he falls and then rolls over...And yes, his shirt says Fun to be Me - because it is!

It's so funny, because he takes all of his might to roll over and then is mad because he's on his stomach...maybe one day he'll start putting it all together.

He is really enjoying his cereal. He gets one serving in the evening when mommy and daddy are eating. He eats it so fast and gets it all over his face...so, we have no choice but to get a bath every night.

He is also trying to talk more and more and screams! Once we figure out how to post videos, we'll have to post some of that, too.
More updates soon on the life and times of Caden!

All smiles

Well, people tell me to get more pictures of Caden smiling and that has been a problem...because he smiles a lot, but once I get the camera out, he is in awe of the camera...and by the time the three flashes go off, the smile is long gone.

So, I had to get the sneak attack and start the camera flashing and then pull it out at the last second...so I did catch some smiles when he was in one of his favorite places...the bathtub. So that explains why some of them are blurry...

Visit from Mimi and her friend, Jane

Here are some pics of Caden with his great grandmother and her friend Jane who swung by this week for a visit - and she has not seen him since he was 2 weeks old, so she could not believe how big he is at 5 months!

Busy Boy Caden

Caden is a very busy boy these days or should I say that Mommy and Daddy are busy moving him from the kick n play mat to the bouncey seat to the jumperoo to the swing...you get the idea. He is also pulling up to sit and stand when he grabs on to your hands!

Here he is having a good time in his jumperoo...

And in his swing..

He has also discovered his foot - particularly the left one...Daddy is hoping that he will be a left handed pitcher so maybe this could be an indication.

However, sometimes I want to put my foot in my mouth while I'm eating cereal...
