Father's Day, Fireworks, and a New Family Member

Sorry it's been so long since our last post, so I will try to recap our last month the best I can. First we went over to see Grandmother in Macclenney for a weekend. Grandmother had some trucks that Caden hadn't seen for a while...

And she had a great recliner that was a hiding place for all kinds of trucks...

We had a wonderful father's day. Father's day has a whole new meaning for me with Caden and Scott. I know I feel like I post this every year, but father's day truly used to be a very sad day for me and although I do think of my dad on that day, it's now a time for Scott to enjoy his fatherhood. I know that my dad is looking down on us smiling...Caden made Scott a beautiful T-shirt at school :)...

We now take baths in mommy and daddy's tub and are loving it. It's like a swimming pool with less water. Caden is a daredevil in the big tub...he slips and slides all over the place and jumps into the water and splashes the whole bathroom. Honestly, the bathroom is a complete wet mess by the time we are done. Here's the big boy sporting his bath do...

We went to Zoinks (an indoor bounce house play place) to a birthday party and Caden loved it. He was very brave and got on the really big bounce houses. At one point, I was scared that I was going to have to go in after him, but he eventually resurfaced...

A few days before the fourth of July, we got our newest family member, Britain. She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Daddy had picked her out a while ago after some thorough research about how good the breed is with young children, but she is finally here. I'm not going to lie and say it has all been pleasant, she has chewed quite a few holes in Caden's clothes, terrorized Riley, and peed and pooped in most rooms. So, now we have the joy of potty training a puppy and a two year old (just kidding, since Caden has shown no interest in the potty - he would rather take it apart or bring it into the living room to put his trucks into). Well, hhheeerrreee she is....

And here's some of what she does...

Caden likes her until she starts biting at his clothes or his diaper. And he learned how to say "no bite" in less than a day, which is HUGE progress for him! Speaking of, he is talking more and more every day! He says so much more now and is imitating a lot of what we are doing. He sticks our keys in the door and goes to turn off the TV when we are getting ready to leave the house. How cute is that?!?

Well, we went over to Panama City Beach for a quick fourth of July visit with our new family member and all. We had only had her for a few days, so we couldn't go far or somewhere where we couldn't take her, so thanks Grammy and Pops for letting her come with us...Since we couldn't take an actual fourth of July trip, we decided to see some sights of Panama City that we had not experienced and make it a little mini-vacation. A few of Grammy and Pops' neighbors told us about a pool at a park. Caden loved it!

Then we went to Zoo World! It's like a litte mini zoo in Panama City. They actually have a lot more animals than I expected...bears, lions, tigers, several types of monkeys, a giraffe, and a camel to name a few. Caden was so good and loved riding around in the stroller - he would just get out at every stop and then get back in for the ride. His favorites were clearly the monkeys and the ducks. He was chasing after the ducks saying "dack, dack" - that's how he says quack, quack.

I see a trip to Zoo World with every Panama City trip in our future...

Whew...that get's it to about mid-July. Mommy went to Baltimore for the American Institute of CPAs Leadership Academy reunion. Still a very prestigious honor that is truly amazing. To be one of 28 selected as the future leaders of the CPA profession is surreal. It was a great meeting with a great bunch of CPAs and I hope that we will lead the profession one day. We got the opportunity to attend an Orioles game while we were there (and also experience an earthquake - which by the way, I slept through it). It's a beautiful stadium (Camden Yards) Here's a pic of me from the Orioles game! Beautiful stadium...

Daddy and Caden got along just fine while mommy was gone and in fact were on a play date when I got back on Saturday.

On other news, we are seeing an allergist due to Caden's recurrent pneumonia. He had the skin allergy test and believe it or not, he is not allergic to anything. We also had some immune deficiency bloodwork done and Good news, Caden's immune system is fine. So, the only other step this summer is to follow up on the fluid in his ears and then hopefully we will be good until the fall when we will need to see the allergist again.

And, I'll leave you with one last image from this weekend...silly boy.
